LAKE WEEKEND CHECKLIST
Tis the season for lake weekends! Whether you own a lake home or are heading to a friends for the weekend, the following items will help make your weekend extra memorable! Order now so you don’t have to flag down the UPS man on your way out the door!
For Fun:
These are some of my personal favorite items to buy for a weekend full of fun!
POPSICLE KIT – 120 popsicle bags for only $12! Make your own popsicles for adults or kids! Add fruit, juices, rum, vodka for an affordable, higher quality treat!
*Pro tip : Prepare and freeze popsicles at home and then throw them in a cooler to use as ice on your drive down!
PHONE LIFE JACKET – Protect your phone from water and float! I also love that they are clear on both sides for checking your phone and photos! I never go anywhere near the water without them! I even use the lanyard to carry my phone around throughout the weekend as a hands free option! It comes in handy when carrying floats, etc!
FLOATS- Pool Candy sells my personal favorites. They are large and quality that will last! I love my GOLD SWAN !
*Pro tip : Bring a rope to tie onto the dock so you don’t float away!
WINE TUMBLER – This particular brand keeps my drink coldest and the lid is essential to avoid bugs/lake water!
GIANT JENGA – I have this exact set and love it! GoSports is sold on Amazon and has so many fun games ( giant connect 4, cornhole bags to name a few faves)!
Clothing Accessories
SUNGLASSES – these are my latest favorites! Less than $20 for TWO pairs! Affordable sunglasses are key for a weekend at the lake.
SANDALS – These LESS THAN $20 sandals are perfect for a weekend by the water. They also come in over 30 colors! They run large, so you’ll want to go a full size DOWN! I typically wear an 8.5/9 in shoes and got a size 8 and they fit great!
SANDALS – My husband got THESE sandals last year and wears them constantly when we’re having a lake weekend. While at first I found them entertaining in a “dad sandal” kind of way, I actually grew jealous of them and had to have my own so I ordered THESE . They are super practical, durable, and great for getting in and out of the water/boat and just generally walking around in the outdoors. My other sandals can make it tricky to walk on uneven ground near the lake and these just make sense (& I honestly like the look of them)!
VISOR – cute and easy way to cover up messy hair while protecting your skin from harsh UV rays!
BEACH BAG – Much needed when carrying floats, etc! Will save you so many trips to and from the dock!
MAKEUP BAG – currently on sale for less than $20!
Swimsuits:
Two of my very favorites that are affordable, quality, and come in a variety of colors!
STRIPED HIGH WAISTED RUFFLE (LESS THAN $20)- this swimsuit is hands down my favorite. I wear it constantly and it has not stretched! Provides the best all over coverage and the bottoms remind me of spanks the way they suck everything in! I loved the black and white striped one so much that I just ordered the red and white striped one as well!
LEOPARD HIGH WAISTED (LESS THAN $25) – My second favorite swimsuit! It comes in countless colors and has a very flattering waist! *Ignore the sizing chart on the website and order what you would typically wear! I ordered a size Medium and it fits great!

SELF TANNER = Everyday Self Tanner, THIS tanner for last minute, tan drops, tan mitt
SPF CHAPSTICK – I always pick up a few extra in case others are in need of them!
EYE BALM – This is perfect for when I don’t want to wear a lot of makeup but still want a little glow!
BUG SPRAY – This particular spray is plant based and has always worked well for me. Always cheaper to order ahead of time on Amazon!
Sunscreen – I wear THIS sunscreen on my face daily. I also like this SPRAY and FACE LOTION (light, sheer, non greasy, & vegan)
DETANGLER – smells amazing and a little goes a LONG way! Leaves hair not only detangled, but smooth and soft to help keep hair low maintenance throughout the weekend!
SHOWER CAP- comes in handy if you’re like me and prefer not to get your hair wet! I find it comes in handy for body showers – especially when it comes to showers that you aren’t used to – may be smaller, higher sprayer, etc!)
TIGER BALM – This is one of my new favorite products! It’s particularly great for bug bites on a lake weekend! It’s great for sinuses/allergies/headaches/ muscle aches/ etc! A little goes a long way and it comes in a small container which makes it easy to throw in your bag! If you’ve never tried it, it’s a must!! There are a variety of strengths, and I recommend using the one that I have linked here!
DOGS:
BUG SPRAY – Our dogs regularly get frontline. However, I always keep a bottle of this down at the lakehouse. It is my understanding that Frontline kills the ticks once they bite the dog. We would often still find (dead) ticks stuck to our dogs. I use this bug spray as an extra repellent. I spray the dog beds upon arrival and give their feet and bellies a quick spray. I believe the directions say to soak the dog in it, but I just give a handful of sprays per dog and it has made a huge difference when repelling ticks!
LIFE JACKET – I have this exact life jacket for our smallest dog. Kurgo products are made with quality in mind and you truly get what you pay for when it comes to life vests! This is the only life jacket I have purchased that I truly trust for our pups!
GLOW IN THE DARK COLLAR – perfect for camping or a weeked at the lake! They especially help give me piece of mind as the sun sets knowing that if my dog would go after an animal or a guest would accidentally leave the door open, this affordable option would help the pups remain safe from vehicles!
